Full and Short Papers

PROFES, the International Conference on Product-Focused Software Process Improvement, is among the top recognised software development and process improvement conferences. The objective of PROFES is to provide a premier forum for practitioners, researchers, and educators to present and discuss experiences, ideas, innovations, as well as concerns related to professional software process improvement motivated by product and service quality needs.

Topics of Interest

PROFES conferences encourage the exchange of ideas that help explore, understand, and model phenomena in software engineering from the point of view of process-product relationships. Traditionally, PROFES provides topics, which are up-to-date, important, and interesting to both practitioners and researchers. To ensure that PROFES will retain its high standards and that it will keep focusing on the most relevant research issues, we are looking for original research on current trends in software engineering aspects addressing products and services.

The topics of interest include, but are not restricted to, the following:

  • Process modelling, management, assessment and improvement
  • Value-driven software development
  • Processes for software innovation
  • Software analytics with actionable insights on software products and processes
  • Predictive models for software engineering tasks
  • Infrastructure and processes for iterative or incremental software delivery
  • Release planning
  • Continuous deployment
  • Development approaches using customer feedback
  • Product quality models for software, system, and services
  • Project management techniques
  • Methods and processes for developing cloud-based systems and services
  • Software development for Cyber Physical Systems
  • Agile and lean methods and processes
  • Global or distributed software development
  • Processes and methods for COTS and open source development
  • Service engineering processes
  • Software business models

Further, PROFES encourages the submission of industrial experience reports as well as of empirical studies reporting, e.g., on the application of respective methods or technologies in real settings.

Paper Submission

We invite submissions of full papers with a maximum length of 16 pages and short papers with a maximum length of 8 pages both related to all the topics of interest of the conference. The short papers track provides a forum where especially new and ongoing research can be presented, communicated, and discussed. Accepted short papers should include initial validation, although the results do not have to be as complete as for full papers.

Both full papers and short papers that address collaborations between industry and academia, case studies as well as experience reports on any of the conference themes are particularly welcome. We also encourage the submission of secondary studies on topics of interest with the condition that the submissions should contain a synthesis of findings.

All submitted papers will undergo a rigorous peer review process. Papers will be selected based on originality, quality, soundness and relevance. All contributions must be original, not published, accepted or submitted for publication elsewhere. Submitted papers must conform to the Springer LNCS author guidelines. All papers should be submitted in PDF format through EasyChair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=profes2017).

Further details will be announced soon.
